2013 Slow Food Cycle Sunday - Aug 18, 2013
Date: Sunday, August 18, 2013
Time: 8 AM to 3 PM
Where: Pemberton Meadows
A celebration of food, farmers and the joys of
biking, Slow Food Cycle Sunday Pemberton blows the fast-food
drive-through away. A pedal-powered trip through the
natural buffet that is Pemberton Meadows farmland, to meet local
growers and sample produce fresh from the field.
The World Watch Institute reports that the average food item
eaten in North America has traveled 2,500 to 4,000 kilometres from
farm to table. The distance between good food and your table is as
short as a 50 kilometre bike ride.
The Slow Food Cycle Sunday brings awareness to how
important locally grown foods are to all of us, and how
delicious local foods are!
The bike ride is a way to inform people of the importance of
farmland, to give townspeople an opportunity to spend the day in
the country and to give farmers and consumers a chance to
Relax after the ride at AugustFest. Join in the
fun at Rotary's Bavarian style beer garden and family BBQ. Live
music & a Bouncy Castle for the kids plus locally grown beef
bratwursts and cold beer are just some of choices offered. Entrance
is by donation and all funds will go towards building a playground
at the elementary school.

Sunday website for more details.
