Pemberton's 10th annual Slow Food
Cycle returns for 2014!
Slow Food Cycle
Sunday is an opportunity to connect-town folk and city
folk, consumers with their food, people with the land. The future
of food is local!
The Slow Food Cycle Sunday began over a conversation at the
Helmer's family farm in 2005. The seed of the idea to connect city
folk to their food and farmers to the people who buy and eat their
food was modest. There was no way of knowing that the event would
spawn countless other Slow Food Cycling events around the world, or
that the farmers and participants would grow to love this event so
much that it would grow each year, becoming almost a festival of
farm-to-table food and family cycling. Connecting with Slow Food
was an obvious choice, as Anna Helmer was already a member and
advocate for the movement.
The event combines a perfect summer day, slow cycling, and
family farms to provide a festival that highlights what makes
Pemberton an ideal community: We're just far enough from the bustle
of the city, but have what's important: community, good food, great
weather. Experiencing this lifestyle for the day gives families a
great excuse to just be together enjoying sunshine, good food and a
leisurely bicycle tour through the flat Pemberton Meadows.
Musicians play while local chefs prepare food grown on-site. This
event is an all-day festival. No need to rush, or feel like you
must go to every farm. Just let your belly be your guide as you
meander from farm to farm, meeting new people, eating local
The 2014 Slow
Food Cycle Sunday is being produced by Tourism Pemberton.
