Pemberton Slow Food Cycle
Now in its 8th year The Pemberton Slow Foods Cycle has become a major hit hosting thousands of participants every year each year out growing its predecessor. Join us August 19th for the 8th annual Pemberton Slow Food Cycle.
Some background info on the event
The Pemberton Slow Foods Cycle was originally started in 2005 by local residents who were concerned with the constant pressures local farmers faced to either sell or develop their farmlands. The day is meant to expose the masses to the integral part our local farmers make in the community and highlight the wonderful products they grow and produce.
How does it work?
Each year participants make their way up to Pemberton with only their bike and baskets. Cyclists start in the town centre of Pemberton and pedal their way up the Pemberton Valley where most of Pemberton's farms are located. There are 12 stops on this year's tour and it's up to you to decide where and which farms you wish to visit. The full route is about 50KM long and ends at one of the local farms in the area. The final stop will feature a dinner, beer gardens and children's activities. However there is no need to make the full trip it's up to you when and where you want to turn around and head back.
Can I rent a bike?
Pemberton Bike Co is the local bike shop in town and does offer rentals. However due to the popularity of the event it is best to book well in advance or bring your own bike. Do not expect to show up the day of the event without a bike and secure a rental.
Do I have to register?
No registration is not required all you have to do is show up with your bike and make your way up the valley.
If you are driving up to Pemberton for the event there is parking made available for the cycle throughout the town.
