Pemberton's Best Local Comfort Foods (& Drink)
Pemberton has long been known for the
quality of its potatoes. But it wasn't until Tyler and Jonathan
Schramm decided to distill their organic potatoes and turn them
into premium organic small batch vodka that things
got really interesting. To do this right, Tyler went to Scotland
for his Masters thesis in Brewing & Distilling at Heriot-Watt
University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Together, they
started the distillery in 2008, and by 2009, Tyler had hand
distilled his first batch. Today, they are well known for their
creations, and will be featured in this year's Cornucopia, on
November 17 in Whistler.
At Mount Currie Coffee
Co. a warm cuppa is the quintessential comfort drink and
Pemberton has some of the best beans around. Recent
reviews from Trip Advisor include this: "The line-up in the store
is what you'd expect in NYC or Toronto... but it seems that people
come from all over, especially on bike, for a cup of the coffee,
and for a very good reason.... it's very good coffee."
Rated the top restaurant in Pemberton. Mile One Eating House
is deliberately local in both food and decor, creating a cozy
atmosphere that you come to expect in Pembie dining. Really good
food, done right. It's great tasting, simple food. Exactly what
comfort food should be.
little French bakery in the heart of Pemberton. A recent review
says it perfectly: "Addictive. There is so much goodness in this
one little bakery. Croissants are amazing, muffins, brownies and
there are even a few gluten free choices as well." Blackbird Bakery focuses on
handcrafted artisan breads and pastries. Exactly what you need to
snuggle up with on a cold day.
The newest entrant to
Pemberton dining, Solfeggio
prides itself on being a true farm-to-table experience with the
passion from the owners and staff shining through, as this
recent review makes evident: "Fresh and satisfying 'whole food'
that is creative and tasty. Great service and (lots of) passion
behind the food and the restaurant atmosphere."
