Pemberton & Whistler Ice Fishing

Pemberton and Whistler offer amazing winter fishing opportunities. Ice fishing and river fishing, very popular Canadian past timesl, are both available during the winter season. A hole is cut though the ice using and ice saw or chisel. The size of the hole is typically 8 inches (20cm). You can then fish though the hole. Ice huts are used on colder days so you catch fish in comfort.

The ice fishing season typically runs from November to March once the ice has formed on the lakes. Pemberton and the surrounding area offers the best ice fishing as the fish are much larger and temperatures a little cooler. You can expect to fish for bull trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, kokanee and pike minnows.
 

Pemberton & Whistler Winter River Fishing

The rivers around Pemberton and Whistler offer some great winter fishing.  Winter fishing species you can expect to find include Rainbow Trout, Steelhead, Bull Trout and Coastal Cutthroat. Popular rivers include the Birkenhead River, Lillooet River, Ryan River and the Cheakamus River. The Steelhead season starts in November and runs until April. April is a great month for catching Coastal Cutthroat trout. They return in large numbers to spawn in the Pemberton area.
