Whistler Skydiving
The sky diving season in Pemberton may be over for this year, but this is a great activity to know about for your next visit to Pemberton! Whistler Skydiving is located at the Pemberton Valley Airport, just a short drive from the Pemberton Valley Lodge. Pemberton/Whistler has been voted one of the top 10 skydiving destinations in Canada and the US. This is in no doubt due to the spectacular views of the mountains, Pemberton Valley and majestic Mount Currie.
The skydiving season runs from May 1 to Oct 1 depending on weather and Whistler Skydiving hope to run a limited service year round in the future.
Whistler Skydiving was founded by brothers Steve and Mike Smith. Their idea for starting skydiving in the Whistler/Pemberton area came after working in the tourism industry in Interlaken, Switzerland. Interlaken is well known throughout the world to be a hub for adventure sports. After completing their AFF (Accelerated Freefall) course in Switzerland, they began to start setting up Whistler Skydiving. After sourcing staff, equipment, and their beloved plane ("GBUS") they opened for business.
Whistler Sky Diving offer Tandem Skydiving, which is the best way to get the full skydive experience with the shortest time commitment possible. Before the flight there will be approximately 20 minutes of ground briefing. You will then fly high above the Pemberton Valley with spectacular views of Whistler, Blackcomb and Mount Currie. Once the plane has reached the jump altitude of 10,500ft, you will exit the plane attached to your instructor and experience the adrenaline of freefall for approximately 45 seconds before opening the tandem parachute at about 5,000 feet! You will then descend slowly for about 5 minutes before landing at the beautiful Pemberton Airport.
Whistler Skydiving also caters to licensed skydivers who want to jump in the incredibly unique area of Pemberton.
Video service including a 6 to 8 minute DVD of your skydive, professionally edited with music and special effects! You will be able to relive the experience over and over again and show proof to your friends!
