Slow Food Cycle Weekend

This coming weekend August 20th, 21 and 22nd is going to be a BIG one in Pemberton!
The Pemberton Pig Party will be held on Saturday evening at Rootdown Farm in the Pemberton Valley. This is an evening to celebrate everything we love about pigs and farms! This is a great way to fuel up and prepare for the Slow Food Cycle the following day. The evening includes a feast - roast pork, ribs, sausages, bacon and pulled pork and a barn dance. Of course the feast will include fresh produce from Rootdown Farm including Pemberton potatoes, salads, veggies, berry pies and squares.
Tickets are $50 per person and are available at the Food Lovers Cooking Co and Restaurant at the Vineyard, 1427 Collins Road or online at EventBrite.com. Tickets include buffet, complimentary glass of PVV berry sangria, live music from Brother Twang from 7 till 10 pm, Cash bar offering local beer and BC wines and shuttle bus service from Pemberton Village.
Sunday is the Slow Food Cycle itself. Starting anytime after 8am, participants can ride up the beautiful Pemberton Meadows Road and stop along the way at various farms to sample food and drinks. This is an epic day in Pemberton and last year saw around 3000 riders with more expected this year. The ride is 50 km round trip and you can do as little or as much as the ride you like. This is a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday, biking on a flat road, beautiful views and amazing stops enroute to experience what the Pemberton Valley is all about.
After the Slow Food Cycle head back into Pemberton Village for Augustfest. Hosted by the Pemberton Rotary Club the Augustfest Beer Garden will be held in Pioneer Park between 1pm and 7pm. You can enjoy locally produced Bratwurst, giant pretzels, kettle corn and ice cream as well as refreshing drinks in the beer garden. The event is fun for the whole family with live music and a bouncy castle. For more information see the Slow Food Cycle event.
If you still have the energy, stay another night and head over to the Big Sky Golf and Country Club on Monday for the Super Skins tournament. There is $9,000 cash up for grabs! Tickets include dinner and breakfast on Monday, $50 Gift Certificate for the pro shop, qualifying round and appies after qualifying round. For more information and special hotel rates see Big Sky Super Skins Tourney.
