New: PVL Offers an Electric Vehicle Charger
NEWS RELEASE
Pull Up & Plug-in at the Pemberton Valley Lodge
Whistler-area leader in sustainable hotel operations adds EV charging station
First Guest to Charge Up Wins a Free Night Stay
Be the first guest to show up at the
Pemberton Valley Lodge in an electric vehicle and get a night's
accommodation free. The lodge is making this offer to
celebrate the installation of its new, high-speed Leviton Evr-Green
charging station - the first of its kind in the
Pemberton-Whistler area. Long recognized as a leader in sustainable
hotel operations, the Pemberton Valley Lodge is excited to add this
amenity to its program of green initiatives.
"We're pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to recharge their vehicle on-site," says general manger David MacKenzie of the lodge's new free service. "Sales of electric cars are increasing and we feel it's important to stay ahead of the curve."
The new Evr-Green charging station allows for two cars to recharge at the same time, features easy to follow digital instructions and is designed for the North American marketplace. And best of all, with it being a Level 2 station, drivers will be able to fully recharge their vehicles in three to four hours.
Adding the eco-friendly charging station comes on the heels of the lodge being awarded a 5 Green Key rating through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program in September. The honour, shared by fewer than a dozen hotels in B.C. - with the Pemberton Valley Lodge being the only hotel with this designation in the Sea to Sky Corridor - recognizes accommodations with outstanding sustainability practices.
"Sustainability makes sense, for the planet and our bottom line," says MacKenzie. "We're always looking at ways to expand our program, such as adding the EV charging station."
Among the lodge's other green initiatives: comprehensive in-room recycling; water conservation, including low flush toilets and aerated showers; recycling of paper, cardboard, plastic and tin; participation in "Clean the World" project to recycle soap products; LED lighting in guestrooms and common areas; dying used towels for pool towel and donating older linens to shelters in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
"At the Pemberton Valley Lodge all of us are committed to delivering service excellence," says MacKenzie. "Our sustainability program is one way we meet that goal."
