We Have A Winner: Pemberton Gingerbread People's Choice
The Gingerbread Project is an annual contest held at the Pemberton Valley Lodge in conjunction with The Question Newspaper and Scotiabank Pemberton. Businesses and residents around Pemberton were encouraged to create gingerbread houses which would be displayed at the Pemberton Valley Lodge throughout the holidays. Over 20 houses were entered in this year's contest.
The event was held as a fundraiser for the Pemberton Food Bank who provides deserving local residents with food for the holidays. During the contest patrons were welcome to come in and see the entries throughout the month and vote for their favorite entry. Visitors were encouraged to bring a non-perishable item of food or small donation for the foodbank.
This year's Gingerbread Project was a major success as we raised more money than we ever have for the Pemberton Food Bank. Over $5,200 was raised thanks to the kind donations of local residents and businesses around Pemberton.
A special shout out goes to Kelly Robb who won this year's contest with her Miaville gingerbread house entry. Kelly has won two tickets and one night accommodations in Vancouver to see the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
A special thanks to the Pemberton Valley Lodge, Scotiabank (Pemberton) and The Question Newspaper - official sponsors of the event. Without you're generous time commitment and kind donations this event would never happen.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's event and everyone who came to view the houses. Hopefully we can continue to grow this event next year and continue to set a positive example to the community.
