A Pemberton Tradition: The Pemberton 4x4 Rally
The Pemberton 4x4 Rally takes place this Saturday & Sunday, June 1 & 2. For those not in-the-know the Rally is one of the busiest and biggest events Pemberton holds every year.
What is it?
Participants in the Rally enter homemade 4x4 race trucks that compete in several different 4x4 race events over two days. Competitors invest large amounts of time and money into their supped up race trucks to make sure they can compete in each type of 4x4 discipline.
As always the Rally will be split into two days with the Road Rally, Hillclimb and Mud Bog set to take place on Saturday. While Sunday will host the All-Terrain and PowderPuff events. A schedule is listed below with the tentative time for each event. We say tentative because Rally time and actual time don't seem to co-exist. My advice is to show up each day around noon and you're sure to catch all of the big events.
Schedule
Event | Saturday, June 1 | Sunday, June 2 |
Road Rally | 10 AM - Noonish
Hillclimb | 12:30 PM | |
Mud Bog | When Hillclimb is finished
All Terrain | Noonish | |
Powderpuff | When All Terrain is finished |
There are some new rules for this year's event which include: No dogs, No camping this year and No ATV's.
Of course, the beer gardens will be up and running both day's serving thirsty patrons. Food stands and T-shirt stands will be selling their wares as well.
If you've never been to the 4x4 Rally you're in for a treat. It's redneck fun at it's finest. But in all seriousness the town and people from all up and down the Sea to Sky always show up in big numbers for this event. The sheer loudness of the crowd and trucks combines for a wicked atmosphere and should be experienced by anyone looking for a good time.
Directions and Price
The 4x4 Rally takes place behind the Pemberton Motor Cross Track located about 10 minutes outside of Pemberton or halfway between Pemberton & Whistler. The place will be impossible to miss on Rally day thanks to the large line of cars and signs that will be all over the road.
We're still waiting to here on an official price, but the event is usually $10 - $15 for a day pass. Always remember to bring cash with you as it's a cash only site. There are no ATM's on-site.
