Happy Birthday Guinness, Pemberton Valley Lodge's Canine Concierge
Happy 12th Birthday, Guinness!
We couldn't be happier: Our favorite canine concierge is turning 12 years old February 1st. Yes, we have a concierge just for our furry guests. We don't just tolerate pets here, we are a pet-friendly hotel, where pets have their very own concierge. But don't worry, Guinness loves dogs and people, too.
Six years ago, David MacKenzie, Pemberton Valley Lodge General Manager, adopted Guinness from Vancouver specifically to work at the Lodge.
His laid back personality suits his job well. He never begs for tips, and definitely understands that not every guest is a dog lover. But when he meets other dogs and their owners, he's super friendly and sociable. You might even try to get his help with great places to walk your furry friend around the Village, or for the names of restaurants and shops that are pet-friendly. Guinness loves to explore and wander around, so he' well acquainted with his territory.
Loves Lying in the Shade
On a sunny day you will find him lying in the shade on the Lodge driveway. If he's not relaxing in the shade he is happily greeting guests upon arrival. He starts his day at the Lodge by eating breakfast and especially loves to eat dry food with bison in it. Though there are many places around the village that would welcome him he prefers to eat at the Lodge. Guinness goes home at night with the hotel manager and stays at the Lodge when the hotel manager is away. The Lodge is his home away from home! Everyone loves him and when new guests come to the hotel they know Guinness' name before they arrive. On this day we celebrate more then a pet, we celebrate a friend, companion and buddy.
You Can Help Us Celebrate:
To help celebrate his 12th birthday, we've got a party ready! First, we're reducing pet fees for the night of February 1st from $45 per night to just $12. There will be cake in the lobby with extra special treats for any furry friends. And, of course, Guinness will be there with his party best on!
