Happy Earth Day 2014
Celebrate Where We Live: Our Invaluable Earth
We're super happy this Earth Day here at the Pemberton Valley Lodge, and for several great reasons. First of all, it's easy to celebrate Earth Day when where you live is in this gorgeous valley, with Mount Currie holding court over the luscious farmland we're surrounded by, where you're as likely to see horses as you are mountain bikes and even the more and more frequent electric car in our downtown Village.
Hitching posts and electric car charging stations. Those are two ends of the spectrum, one harkening back to antiquity and slower, less frantic times, the other welcoming a future where people have been raised in the awareness that how they treat this planet has an effect, and it can either be positive or negative.
Hitching posts are a staple of our downtown, and you can often see horses waiting patiently outside shops for their riders. And, at Pemberton Valley Lodge, we're proud to have an electric car charging station on the premises. It's a bit forward thinking of us, but as the CBC notes, this year, 2014, marks the tipping point for electric cars.
As more than one billion people celebrate Earth Day today, this the 44th annual celebration, we can't help but think about how this is our tenth anniversary at the Pemberton Valley Lodge. Our ten years have seen us grow in our commitment to Pemberton, to the environment and to the Earth. We've earned the highest rating possible from GreenKey Tourism, with a 5 Key rating and a third-party audit, the most stringent audit in the program.
We just finished yet another successful clean up day this past Saturday, April 19th, and we're looking forward to many more to come.
To us, Earth Day is a chance to say "Thank you." Thank you to our guests, to Pemberton, and to the Village which supports us. We hope you took a moment today to consider where you live and the blessings you may have, wherever you are. We know we did.
