2014 Nimby Fifty Bike Race
The Nimby Fifty is Pemberton B.C's premier mountain bike race. The event is held every year at the end of May to coincide with Pemberton's best riding time. The race takes place on several mountain bike trails throughout the Pemberton area. The course run's over 40KM's long and involved riders reaching elevations of 800 meters above sea level. This course is a serious test of endurance and will power with several climbs, descents and over 101 switch backs for riders to navigate. This year's race takes place on May, 31.
Over the years the event has become a big hit in the mountain bike community attracting hundreds of riders from all over B.C and beyond. There are twenty two categories for riders to compete in divided up by age and gender. Every year the Pro/Elite category attracts some of the best mountain bikers in the area who will compete for a cash prize pool of $1400. Along with cash prizes there are also FREE give always and draw prizes available from event sponsors Redbull, Chromag, Different Bikes, Stead Cycles, Oakley, Pemberton Bike Co, Bozeale and many more.
One of the cool features of the Nimby Fifty is the post race dinner and after party. Held at the North Arm Farm (race start and finish area) the dinner includes a gourmet organic BBQ buffet, along with beer and non alcoholic beverages. Following dinner is the awards ceremony where the category winners will be announced and of course FREE swag will be handed out. But wait there's more... After the awards ceremonies kick back, relax and socialize at the after party. Live music, bon fires and beverages will be on hand to keep things moving.
