Get Fit at the One Mile Fitness Trail
The One Mile Fitness Trail is a series of stops along the 1.2 mile boardwalk that circles One Mile Lake. There are 11 fitness signs along the trail consisting of exercises such as sit-ups, triceps dips, lunges, squats, push-ups, walking lunges, step-ups, planks and sprints. Each element along the fitness trail is a body weight exercise, perfect for building tone and body endurance.
Step-ups / triceps dips station
The Fitness Trail begins at the front entrance of One Mile Lake. Looking out towards the lake, take a left and begin along the boardwalk trail. Running or walking at your own pace you will begin to see a series of signs indicating certain workouts. The first sign you should run into is the 'step-ups', 'triceps' on bench sign. At this time it's up to you how many variations of each exercise you want to do. Most people generally do between 8 - 12 reps of each exercise then move onto the next station. However it's always best to listen to your body when deciding how many reps at each station is right for you.
Once you have completed the first station the following exercise signs will become far more frequent. It's important to note that each sign doesn't always imply stopping for an exercise. For the lunges, sprints and jog sign you continue on without coming to a stop. The lunges signs always start and end at different bridges along the trail.
