Thanksgiving Weekend in Pemberton
Thanksgiving week is upon us once again! Here are some ideas on ways to celebrate this holiday in true Pemberton fashion.
Head over to North Arm Farm to play "name that Gourd" and find out whether or not your squash knowledge is up to par! Consider buying some of these lovely little vegetables for festive table decorations! If you're there on the weekend, go for a hayride (only $2 per person Sat & Sun 11 AM - 3 PM), and enjoy the lovely fall scenery. Don't forget to buy a pumpkin for fresh pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving dinner!
Consider organizing a pumpkin hunt for your little ones or for the neighbours! Grab some gourds and hide them around your home or backyard for the kids to find. Give rewards or treats for every little squash they collect, use them afterwards as table or window decorations.
This Friday, October 9th, is the last farmers market of the year! Located in the Pemberton Community Barn, come out and support your local farms by purchasing your Thanksgiving dinner veggies at the market instead of the store! Market hours 3 PM - 6:30 PM.
Not into cooking? Big Sky Golf Club's got you covered! For just $79, you can partake in a round of golf, some trap/skeet shooting (during the tournament), and then indulge in an all you can eat Thanksgiving buffet!
Get into the mood by watching a Thanksgiving-themed movie! Consider the classics: "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" or "National Lampoon's Thanksgiving Family Reunion", or check out this Wikipedia link for more festive flicks!
The morning afterwards, head out for a "turkey trot"- take in the fall colours by going for a nice walk or hike. Consider Lumpy's, located near One Mile Lake, only a short walk from the Pemberton Valley Lodge. Open to something out of town? Check out the Ancient Cedars Trail, halfway between Pemberton and Whistler. Feel humbled while you stand amongst 1,000-year-old trees.
Remember those less fortunate than you, donate to the local food bank to help make this a great one for every member of our community.
Happy Thanksgiving, Love the Pemberton Valley Lodge!
