2015 Nimby Fifty Bike Race

The NIMBYfifty Pemberton's premier mountain bike race makes its return this Sunday, May 30, 2015. The bike race is held during the end of May to coincide with Pemberton's best riding conditions of the year. The course is carved out of 37 KM's of pristine single track mountain bike trails. The NIMBYfifty is categorized as a technical marathon xc which will have riders combining climbing, cross-country and downhill components.

Over the years, the race has developed a cult following in the bike community attracting hundreds of riders from all over BC and beyond. While the race has managed to grow year after year in popularity it still maintains its small-town vibe and grassroots traditions. To ensure the race can be enjoyed by all its riders the event has a 400 rider cap to avoid congestion along the trails.

The race also caters to riders of every ability and age. Riders can choose from 22 race categories divided by age and gender. The following age categories include: 14-20, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, 70+, Pro/Elite. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category. For those looking to compete in the Pro/Elite category a prize of $1000 for first, $250 for second and $150 for third will be awarded to the top three males and females.

While the race serves as the main event the NIMBYfifty After Party has become almost as famous as the race itself. The after party is held each year at Pemberton North Arm Farm, which also serves as the start and finish line for the race. Following the race riders are treated to a full organic BBQ style dinner. This year the event will be catered by the Collective Kitchen.

One cool tidbit about the dinner is that all the veggies will be provided by North Arm Farm, making the dining experience truly farm-to-table. Along with food Muskoka Brewery will be providing tasty brews for everyone 19+. The dinner will also be available for kids, families and support crews for a small additional fee.

Following the dinner, category winners will be announced during an awards ceremony. There will also be a number of FREE giveaways and draw prizes handed out.

But wait there's more... After the awards ceremony, you can kick back, relax and socialize at the after party. Live music, bon fires and beverages will be on hand to keep things moving. Attendees are encouraged to bring some warm clothes for the late night fun!

For more information on this event including registration information head on over to the NIMBYfifty website.
