Another Successful Pemberton Gingerbread Project
Thank you to the entire Village of Pemberton!
It really did take a village, but we raised $10,000 as well as 12 hampers of food for the Pemberton Food Bank with the 2015 Gingerbread Project. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Pemberton Valley Lodge to enjoy Family Day, check out the awesome gingerbread creations and give to our community.
Raising our goal of $10,000 was only possible because we live in a place like Pemberton, where everyone cares so much about creating an authentic and genuine community. Part of creating community means actively doing the things that we often try to pretend we are too busy to do. Like making the time in our lives for things like our gingerbread project.
Looking over the many many submissions just swelled our hearts. When you think about the hours that it takes to create a submission to that contest - we know, because we make one ourselves each year - thinking about that time and effort helps remind us of what it actually means to be part of this village.
We're busy, especially at Christmastime, but we still took a good chunk of time out of our days to give back to those who need it most. And of course, at the same time, the entire village: local business people, families, community members - everyone came together for a fun family celebration at our lodge.
It's always fun to make this project into a bit of a competition as well as a fundraiser and party. And, as usual, it was a difficult decision for everyone, but the votes have been counted and the contest is over.
The People's Choice Award for favourite project went to two worthy entries this year:
- Pemberton RCMP
- Stewardship Pemberton
Thank You Again
Thank you again to all who participated. Special thanks also go to Scotiabank staff, Pemberton Valley Lodge staff, Santa Claus, Dave Steers and Corporal Chris Dodds. Family Day would not have been the same without them.
