Pemberton Celebrates a Happy New Year
It's time to bring on the New Year, 2017 is only a couple days away now and the skies are white with falling snow. Pemberton is expecting an incredible 40cm of fresh snowfall before New Year's Eve! With all that snow, town is going to be a giant snow playground -- think snowman city plus all the igloos you can imagine. Snowmobiling and heading up the mountains are sure to be the favourite activities this New Year's Eve but there are plenty of other 'less snow' related events going on in Pemberton and Whistler that day as well.
Celebrate in Pemberton!
There is good reason to celebrate the New Year's in Pemberton! Why? Just check out these incredible photos from Pemberton's very own Dave Steers highlighting the winter wonderland we're experiencing in the Pemberton Valley this December!
NYE at the Prospect Pub
You could go to Whistler for NYE but you don't have to. Pemberton knows how to celebrate too! How about staying in Pemberton and going to celebrate the new year at The Prospect Pub. Usher in 2017 surrounded by friends, family, and Pemberton locals. The Prospect Pub is sure to be bustling with people on New Year's Eve, don't miss out! $15 advance tickets at the liquor store or $20 at the door.

Whistler Presents: New Years Eve
With basically every bar in town offering a place for adults to indulgence in celebrations, there are not quite as many options for families looking to celebrate the new year. That's why the Resort Municipality of Whistler is once again hosting this family-friendly event, taking place on Dec 31. This alcohol-free celebration features arts and crafts for children as well as an early countdown so young ones can be tucked-in early. Also featured is a teen dance for 13 - 17 year olds at the Whistler Conference Centre. This fun all finishes with a midnight firework show at Skier's Plaza!
And Whistler is just a 30-minute drive from the Lodge. Just be sure not to drink and drive! Plan for a designated drive or consider taking a cab (but book in advance).
Party Time, Excellent
Whistler is full of nightlife; clubs, pubs, lounges, and bars with almost every one having a celebration of their own. If you haven't experienced a 'Whistler-style' New Year's Eve, we suggest you try it. It's not for everybody but it's definitely worth the experience -- Picture a movie-esque celebration complete with the glamorous setting, beautiful people, and champagne bottles galore.
While you can basically head to the village and pick whichever bar you please, waiting in the snow might not be your thing. Check out this list of Whistler bars throwing events and get your tickets ahead of time.
Fire & Ice NYE Show
Every Sunday night during winter see a spectacular display of ski and snowboard skill at the legendary Fire & Ice Show in the Whistler Skier's Plaza. Whistler's best skiers and riders jump and flip through a blazing ring of fire accompanied by fire spinners, a DJ and fireworks display. An electrifying evening of free, live entertainment to watch with family and friends.
And luckily for us, on New Year's Eve, from 11:30 to midnight, the Fire & Ice Show will be taking place. Come out and watch the athletes perform and then enjoy a fireworks show at midnight. It wouldn't be a New Year without a dazzling display of lights and sounds over snow! Fireworks are best viewed from Skier's Plaza located at the base of Whistler Mountain.
