Canada Day Celebrations in Pemberton B.C
Canada turns 149 years young on July 1st and Pemberton is ready with lots of free and fun activities to help you celebrate. There are events running all week long and culminate with a huge celebration at the Pemberton & District Community Centre.
Pemberton Community Events
Pemberton is the seed potato capital of Canada and so you know we're going to be using the humble potato in our celebrations. One super fun annual event is the Spud Run, an 8.5 kilometre run along the Valley Trail. Registration is at 8:30 and, of course, admission is free. If you want to take part in the Spud Run, make sure to register at the Pemberton & District Community Centre at 8:30 a.m.
The Canada Day Parade will start at 11:00 in downtown Pemberton. If you'd like to join in, please do! This year, the Pemberton Multicultural Network is looking for participants who would like to join in the parade in traditional clothing from their country of origin. If you would like to participate in the parade this year, meet at the downtown barn at 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
If you'd like to watch the parade, it will start near the Pemberton Regional District and wind its way through town until it reaches the Pemberton & District Community Centre lawn. Come out and watch the colourful floats and decorated vehicles as they loop their way through town.
The official Canada Day celebrations take place from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. after the parade. Everyone gathers at the Pemberton & District Community Centre lawn for a Canada Day market. The mayor will make a speech and, of course, there will be Canada Day cake and live music, too.
If you'd like to participate selling crafts at the Pemberton & District Community Centre Farmers Market after the parade, the Pemberton Multicultural Network is looking for you. They will have two tables set up, one for selling crafts and one for origami. If you are interested, head over to the Pemberton Multicultural Network website for more information.
