Pemberton Winter Activities
Pemberton is the perfect place for winter outdoor sports enthusiasts. From recreational sports like cross-country skiing and ice fishing to brewery and distillery tours – Pemberton has plenty to offer visitors in the winter.
Pemberton offers some amazing river and ice fishing opportunities for both locals and visitors. Typically running from November to March, or once the ice has formed on the lakes, ice fishing is a great Pemberton pastime. You can expect to fish for bull trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, kokanee, and pike minnows.
Pemberton has plenty of hiking trails throughout the valley which are a great places to spend a winter day. Pemberton's most popular hike, Joffre Lake, is a fantastic winter destination because of it's beautiful alpine setting and frozen lakes. Toted as a ‘must-do’ activity in Pemberton, the Joffre Lake Provincial Park offers some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll ever see.
With Whistler Blackcomb only a quick drive away, it’s easy to underestimate the fun of cross-country skiing. Pemberton is the perfect place to go for a leisurely stroll through the trees on your cross-country skis. Take a day off from the downhill and enjoy a relaxing adventure on one of Pemberton’s many free local trails.

Pemberton is home to two breweries and a distillery which are the perfect place to spend an exceptionally snowy day. Celebrate the snowy season at Pemberton’s Winterfest with fun outdoor activities. The perfect sendoff to the year, Winterfest is a family-friendly gathering of the community on the last day of December. This free event hosts a variety of fun winter activities and events at the Pemberton Community Centre.
