5 Pemberton Activities That You Might Have Missed
Pemberton is a magnet for thrill-seekers and visitors from all over the world, and rightly so. We have incredible backcountry skiing and world-class mountain biking right on our doorstep. But we also have some other brilliantly unique activities here that are worth visiting for.
Golf
Big Sky Golf Club 19th Hole
Experience a truly unique golfing memory by hitting golf balls off the top of Pemberton's highest peak during the 19th Hole Experience! Four guests will fly to the top of Mount Currie where you can work on your drive by sending biodegradable golf balls into the valley below. The experience can be paired with a round of golf at Big Sky Golf and meal at Fescues Restaurant.
Horseback Riding
Adventures on Horseback
Horseback riding on historic trails through the mountains in Pemberton allows you to really connect with the natural surroundings. The trails run through old-growth temperate rainforests, rivers and wide open meadows. You'll get a real feel for Pemberton and its history.
Adventures on Horseback has a range of tours available depending on your ability level. Owners Bob Menzel and Susan Perry have dedicated their lives to horses. Susan has been a competitive horserider, while Bob is a cowboy and horse breeder. Dust off that cowboy hat and give Adventures on Horseback a call!
Jet Boating
Whistler Jet Boating
And now for something completely different! Green River is a stunning glacial river that flows through the heart of Pemberton. But have you ever thought about roaring up Green River in a jet boat? Well, with Whistler Jet Boating, you can do just that!
Owner Eric Pehota is a local legend. Not only is he one of the best jet boat pilots in Canada, but he was also a pioneer of the local extreme skiing scene. The 'Green River Thriller' tour takes you along Green River through Narin Falls Provincial Park. Whistler Jet Boating is the only company permitted to do so. You can catch a glimpse of the local wildlife as your tour zips you through old-growth forest and past natural waterfalls.
Skydiving
Whistler Skydiving
Skydiving is on the bucket list of every adrenaline junkie out there. And what better place to do it than beautiful Pemberton?
As you board the G-BUS plane and take off you'll see the town disappear below you, as you cruise to your jump height. When you reach 10,500 feet above Pemberton, you'll have adrenaline coursing through your veins as you edge towards the door and jump out! With your Whistler Skydiving tandem skydive, you'll freefall for 45 seconds. Upon reaching 5,000 feet your experienced instructor pulls the shoot and you'll slowly descend to the ground for the next 5 minutes.
There's no better way to see the sheer scale and size of the Coast Mountains than skydiving.
Paragliding
If skydiving is too high octane for you, but you still want to get a birds-eye-view, then a tandem paragliding tour is just the thing for you! Peacefully fly over the meadows and farmland from the safety of your paraglider's harness. After taking off from the launch site on Mt. McKenzie, you'll glide down from 4,000 feet during your 20-minute descent. Paragliding in Pemberton is so popular, there are two companies running flights.
Sea to Sky Paragliding
Sea to Sky Paragliding was opened in 2015 by Guy Herrington. Guy became addicted to paragliding since his first flight in 2008. Since then he has become a very experienced instructor and paragliding competitor. He is currently the 6th highest ranked competition pilot in Canada. He has racked up 1,500 flights in 7 countries and 4 continents. With his vast experience and love for the sport, you're guaranteed to have a good time with Guy.
Cayoosh Expeditions
Cayoosh Expeditions have been running paragliding tours out of Pemberton since 1993. Tours guides Jim Orava and Corinne Stolz have over 57 years of experience between them. From filming Hollywood movies, flying through Nepal and exploring South America by air, these guys have done it all. In 2009 Jim was crowned paragliding champion of Canada. With their wealth of experience, you know you're in good hands.
