Indoor Winter Family Activities in Whistler
Whistler is a great place to get together with family. While skiing and snowboarding may be the go-to activity, there’s plenty of great indoor activities that children and parents can both enjoy. From rock climbing to candy shops, here’s the things you’ll want to do if the weather outside is frightful.
Swimming at Meadow Park Sports Centre
If you’re looking to take a take dip or enjoy a hot tub then the indoor Aquatic Centre is where you need to be. Children can enjoy swimming in the indoor kids pool with a short lazy river and whirlpool, while parents can hit the lap pool, hot tub, or steam room all year round.
Indoor Climbing at Whistler Core Fitness
Whistler Core Fitness offers visitors access to a 5,500 square foot indoor climbing wall. Perfect for all skill-levels, the climbing gym provides a range of kid-friendly climbing routes, activities, and programs.
Escape Rooms in Whistler
Perfect for families with older kids and teenagers, Escape! Whistler is a real-life gaming experience. You and your group will work together as a team to solve puzzles and riddles and ultimately escape the room. With four different themed rooms (Pirate Ship, Buried Cabin, Pinball Machine, or Rabbit Hole) you can test yourself with varying levels of difficulty and enjoy a great team building experience.
Enjoy a Movie at Village 8 Cinemas
There’s nothing better than a night at the movies with your family. Located in Whistler Village, Village 8 Cinemas features all the latest films, plus a small section full of arcade games.
Explore Whistler’s Art Galleries & Museums
If you want to soak up a bit of the local culture or learn some more about the history of Whistler there are tons of great places to visit. If sounds like the kind of excitement you’re looking for we recommend visiting the Audain Art Museum, the Whistler Museum, the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, the Whistler Public Library, or one of the many Art Galleries in Whistler. Each venue provides a unique experience with different hands-on and interactive activities, some specifically geared towards children.
Visit the Toy Store & Candy Shop
There’s plenty of stores for adults to shop at in Whistler but if you’re looking to entertain the little ones you’ll want to check out the Great Glass Elevator and Whoola Toys.
The Great Glass Elevator is Whistler’s candy-mecca. With 1,000 square feet of sweet treats it’s easily every child's favourite shop in Whistler. And while the kids may drag you there, the parents usually end up buying twice as much for themselves. With a variety of chocolate and candy from around the world and nostalgic favourites, you can easily spend an hour just looking around.
If you’re opposed to sweet treats then why not take a trip to the local toy store. Whoola Toys is a hands-on shop where children can test-out and explore a variety of games, old and new. From Lego and Playmobil to puzzles and crafts, you’re sure to find something your kid will love.
