Outdoor Winter Family Activities in Whistler
Whistler is the perfect place to spend some time outdoors with the whole family. From tobogganing at the Olympic Park to Family Après in the Village, there’s plenty of options to choose from.
Tobogganing at Whistler Olympic Park
Take a trip to Whistler’s Olympic Park, the home of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games offers outdoor winter activities for all ages and expertise.
Perfect for children and young families, the park has a variety of snow activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sightseeing, biathlon, and tobogganing!
Tobogganing is a classic winter pastime for children in Canada. The park has a dedicated sledding hill plus toboggans and helmets available to rent for free, with entry to the park.
If sliding down a snowy hill isn’t your thing, you can always enjoy the views of the Olympic ski jumps and surrounding mountain ranges. Visit the Day Lodge with its licensed restaurant or just learn about the park’s Olympic venue legacy.
Whistler Blackcomb Coca-Cola Tube Park
If you love tobogganing, you’ll love the Whistler Blackcomb Tube Park! With over 1,000 feet of slidable snow hill, tubing is a great family excursion. Head over to the Tube Park at night to experience a tubing adventure under the lights! Plus, the hill has multiple sliding lanes and a conveyor belt lift to get you right to the top.
Ice Skating in Whistler
Another beloved Canadian pastime in the winter is ice skating! Whistler has several local lakes that are great for outdoor skating when the conditions are right. Or you can visit Whistler Olympic Plaza, in the heart of the Village, to enjoy the maintained outdoor ice skating rink.
However, if the weather isn’t on your side and you still want to lace up your blades, you can visit Meadow Park Sports Centre for year-round indoor ice skating.
Skiing & Snowboarding on Whistler Blackcomb
It wouldn’t be a complete trip to Whistler if you didn’t experience skiing or snowboarding on Whistler Blackcomb. Skiing is an amazing family activity which can be done together, even with varying levels of skill. If you’re bringing the little ones up the slopes it’s important to pick the right runs so everybody can have some fun.
