A Hand Picked Guide of Trails for Every Rider

Pemberton Mountain Biking

Pemberton, British Columbia, is known for its world-class mountain biking trails and views of Mt. Currie. As a quaint mountain town located just north of Whistler, it harbours fantastic trails and a strong mountain biking culture. Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton all have top-tier trails, but Pemberton is known for its technical trails and views. In this blog, we've compiled a list of the top trails to cater to each skill level, with insight from local riders. So, let's dive in and see what each trail offers!

Radio Tower Into Crosstown

Difficulty level: Beginner

For those in the early stages of entering the wonderful world of mountain biking, we recommend riding Radiotower into Crosstown. You'll have a blast on this flowy trail with easy bridges. If you feel like challenging yourself, there are optional jumps and an optional drop. These are easily visible while riding the trail,  so you won't be surprised and can make decisions based on your comfort level. To access this trail, you can choose between starting with a climb trail or entering through the Mackenzie basin FSR side.

Pemberton Downhill Biking

Overnight Sensation

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Highlight: Scenic Viewpoint

Looking for a ride with a scenic reward? Overnight Sensation is the trail for you! We recommend this trail for riders with a little more experience under their belts; however, there are many line choices based on your ability regarding rocks and corners. This trail also features fun rock slabs, the majority being blue level and one black level. And you're in for a treat. This trail boasts a gorgeous lookout and a view of the iconic Mt. Currie. This trail can be accessed by Happy Trail or via the Mackenzie FSR.

Pioneer

Difficulty level: Advanced
Highlight: Flowy & loamy

We've selected the trail Pioneer for the more advanced rider. This trail is flowy, loamy, and has an easy climb. You can expect lots of corners, roots, and rocks. There is a nice climb through the trees as well. This trail is ideal year-round as it doesn't dry out quickly or get too slick.

Pemberton Biking Trail

Upper to Lower Mackenzie Cruise

Difficulty level: Extremely Difficult

This trail steps it up a notch in difficulty level. This challenging trail features rock slabs and one corner that will put you outside your comfort zone; however, it's low exposure and relatively low consequence. The trail tends to dry out pretty well, so spring and fall are the ideal times for riding it. You can access this trail via the climb trail or the Mackenzie FSR.

Pemberton Lake

One Mile Lake Loop

Difficulty level: Easy
Highlight: Lake

One Mile Lake Loop is an excellent activity for families looking for a kid-friendly trail. This easy, scenic trail loops around One Mile Lake. Half the loop is a boardwalk, and the other half is a pleasant forested section. This loop is a great activity in summer as there are docks to walk out on to, and you can go in for a swim. There's also a children's playground and grassy area to relax on, and you can reward yourself with a freezie or snack from the Paddle Barn - which the kids love!

Cop Killer

Difficulty level: Extremely Difficult
Highlight: A gnarly chute and slab with techy sections

If you're up for a challenge while riding in Pemberton, Cop Killer is the perfect trail to test your skills. This trail is not for the faint of heart. Cop Killer is for expert riders only and features gnarly chutes and rock slabs. The features of this trail are high exposure and high consequence. Further, it is not ideal for riding during super dry or wet conditions, so ensure you time it well with this in mind. You can access it via the climb trail or Mackenzie FSR.

We hope this blog has inspired you for all of Pemberton's fantastic riding. From mellow lakeside family cruises to trails only for the most extreme riders, there are tons of great trails to explore in our mountain biker's paradise. So, grab your bikes and plan your next trip over to Pemberton. Let us know if you try one of these trails, and tag @pembvalleylodge in your photos!
