There’s a new way to experience the Pemberton Valley, and this one comes in a bottle.
Pemberton Valley Lodge has launched its own signature spirit, Do Not Disturb Gin, crafted to capture the character of the valley. This isn’t just another gin with a hotel logo on the label. It’s a thoughtfully developed, locally inspired collaboration that brings together place, people, and craftsmanship in every pour.
Do Not Disturb Gin was created with one clear vision: to bottle the feeling of being tucked away in Pemberton’s mountains, forests, and farmland.
Pemberton Valley Lodge’s Managing Director, David MacKenzie, personally selected the botanicals, choosing ingredients that tell Pemberton Valley’s story. Think of the botanical list as a flavour map of the region:
The result is a gin that feels grounded in place: bright and aromatic, with forest notes, a gentle citrus lift, and that subtle honeyed finish. It works just as well in a classic gin and tonic as it does when sipped slowly over ice after a long day.
One thing worth knowing: the botanicals aren’t listed on the label. If you want the full story of what’s in your glass, you’re looking at it right now!
To bring this idea to life, Pemberton Valley Lodge partnered with Montis Distilling, a small-batch craft distillery based in Function Junction, Whistler.
Founded in 2019, Montis produces gin, vodka, and whisky using locally sourced ingredients from British Columbia, with a serious commitment to quality at every stage.
Their scale is intimate enough to experiment and refine. Their small still used for infusing gin batches, allows them to work at a level of specificity most distilleries simply won’t. That precision matters when you’re trying to make something that tastes like a specific place rather than a generic idea of “local.”
David visited Montis’ upstairs tasting room in Function Junction for a gin consultation, working through different botanical combinations over roughly an hour and a half. The Pemberton Valley hops were an early anchor. Fresh cedar tips from a tree growing in Montis’ own backyard were another.
From there, the list built outward: fresh spruce tips, dried orange peel, juniper berries, and local honey. Six botanicals. All of them pointing at the same place.
This shared focus and passion for local ingredients, thoughtful production, and a strong sense of place made Montis a natural fit for the project.
What sets Do Not Disturb apart is the level of personal input that went into its creation. Rather than private-labelling an existing spirit, David worked closely with the Montis team to select botanicals that speak specifically to Pemberton and Whistler.
Hops in a gin is not a typical choice. The category tends toward bright, floral, or citrus-forward profiles. The Pemberton Valley hops bring something earthier and more grounded, a quality that anchors the alpine freshness of the spruce and cedar rather than competing with it. The local honey smooths everything out at the finish.
To celebrate the debut of Do Not Disturb Gin, Pemberton Valley Lodge hosted a launch event in April 2026, welcoming guests, locals, and friends of the Lodge to be among the first to experience the new spirit.
The atmosphere was exactly what you’d hope for from a Pemberton gathering: relaxed, social, and full of genuine enthusiasm. Guests had the chance to sample Do Not Disturb Gin in signature cocktails and learn about the botanicals and the inspiration behind the blend.
Part of the fun of a regionally inspired gin is exploring how it behaves in the glass. The cedar, spruce, hops, and honey all pull in slightly different directions, and different serves let different elements come forward:
It doesn’t matter if you’re unwinding after a day of biking, hiking, skiing, or simply soaking in the scenery. This is a gin built for slow-sipped moments and “let’s stay one more night” conversations.
Do Not Disturb Gin is only available for purchase at Pemberton Valley Lodge.

Montis Distillery is based in Function Junction in Whistler, and their tasting room is the best place to start. They’re open six days a week, offer tours, and run gin consultations for anyone curious about creating a custom spirit. You can sample and buy directly from their on-site storefront.
Beyond that, their core lineup is available at roughly 26 independently owned liquor stores across Whistler, Vancouver, and the surrounding area. You won’t find them at BCLIQUOR locations; they’re too small and too craft for that, but that’s precisely why local shops like Nesters Market and Blackcomb Liquor carry them well. Independent retailers tend to give craft producers the shelf space and attention they deserve.
Pemberton Valley Lodge has always been a starting point for visitors discovering this valley, and Do Not Disturb Gin is another entry point into that same experience, just one that fits in a carry-on.
