David MacKenzie Named Hotelier of the Year by the BC Hotel Association

Pemberton Valley Lodge is proud to share that Managing Director David MacKenzie has been named Hotelier of the Year by the BC Hotel Association at its annual awards ceremony.

This award is one of the highest honours in British Columbia’s hospitality industry. It recognizes exceptional leadership, innovation, professionalism, and long-term contribution to the sector. For all of us at Pemberton Valley Lodge, it is also a meaningful reflection of the values that shape our property every day: people-first hospitality, community connection, operational excellence, and a genuine commitment to doing things the right way.

“This is an incredible honour, but it really belongs to the team at Pemberton Valley Lodge. Their dedication, resilience, and genuine care for our guests and community are what make this place special.” — David MacKenzie

That sentiment reflects the culture David has helped build over many years. Under his leadership, Pemberton Valley Lodge has earned recognition for its strong workplace culture, commitment to sustainability, and local community impact.

In 2025, the Pemberton Valley Lodge received the Employees First Award at the Tourism Industry Association of BC conference, highlighting our leadership in staff well-being and workplace culture.

David’s impact extends well beyond the Lodge itself. He’s contributed to the future of tourism and hospitality across British Columbia through board service, industry advocacy, and involvement in conversations that help shape policy and progress across the province. His leadership has always been grounded in the belief that hospitality can be both high-performing and deeply human.

For Pemberton Valley Lodge, this recognition is about more than one individual. It reflects the collective effort of a team that shows up every day with care, pride, and professionalism.

It also speaks to the strength of independent boutique hospitality and the role local businesses can play in supporting their communities, creating meaningful guest experiences, and helping shape a stronger tourism industry in BC.

We are incredibly proud of David for this well-deserved recognition, and grateful for the leadership he continues to bring to our team, our guests, and our community.
