Big Sky Golf Club is one of the most respected golf courses in the sea to sky corridor. I have always told anyone that comes to Whistler or Pemberton if they were to play only one course on their trip make it Big Sky.
The appeal of the course is the simple elegance in which it was designed combined with unbeatable views of the surrounding Pemberton Valley and Mount Currie Mountain. A link style design the course doesn't fight the natural contours of the land but instead winds its way throughout the beautiful property as if it had always been there. Course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr has created a masterpiece which can be played and appreciated by players of all levels and abilities. With 5 sets of tees to play from the course can play stern from the back tees and more favourable from the front.
Like most links style course the course is generous off the tee with most of its trouble lying in the numerous fairway bunkers and occasional threat of water. Most of the courses defenses lie around the greens which are guarded on each hole with a series of greenside bunkers, false fronts and water. Driving may not be at a premium at Big Sky but your second shot always is. Those who put a premium on ball striking and wedge play tend to score better at Big Sky as they can maneuver their way around some of the tricky second shots into greens.
Along with a terrific course design Big Sky is home to some of the most incredible views in the Pemberton Area. Situated right next to the scenic Mount Currie Mountain you are surrounded by mountain ranges 360 degrees. The clubhouse at Big Sky is also a marvel to see, built in a traditional log style home manner the clubhouse features a full restaurant and pro shop. Right off the restaurant sits one of the most scenic patios in Pemberton equipped with a view of players coming off hole 18 and a magnificent view of Mount Currie Mountain.
