3 Great Pemberton Mountain Biking Areas

Pemby Mountain Biking - Group

Mountain biking in Pemberton has started and it's a great way to experience Pemberton's backcountry and get some exercise in the process. Spring has certainly sprung, with the temperatures in Pemberton rising to the high 20's this week, it's perfect time to get outdoors and have some fun.

You can't mention mountain biking in the Sea to Sky Corridor without talking about Whistler's Bike Park. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opened its first lift for riders this May Long Weekend, marking the start of mountain bike season in both Whistler and Pemberton.

Whistler was blessed with a long winter season this year and it looks like mountain bikers can expect the same for summer. The weather has be warming up drastically and the summer heat is quickly approaching. Opening day was of course pretty popular and saw plenty of riders taking advantage of the fresh spring trails.

But, sometimes you really need to get away from it all when you're biking. Pemberton is the perfect option for those who are looking for quieter trails with just as much downhill fun. Surrounded by hills and lush forest, Pemberton has dozens of mountain bike trails located within minutes of town and plenty more around it.

Not so sure where you would go? Take a look at these great areas and start getting familiar with some of the best Pemberton mountain bike trails.

Pemby Mountain Biking - Riders

One Mile Lake

One Mile Lake is located just south of Pemberton, right before town as you drive from Whistler. The One Mile Lake area offers a wide selection of beginner and advanced trails, each with their own style from cross-country to all-mountain trails.

Most trails around One Mile Lake have good, visible signage and the trails easily combine into larger loops for you to explore.

One of the most popular trails at One Mile Lake is Lumpy's Epic. This trail is known for being very technical and challenging for riders. But, it's popular because it's one of the best trails too, with roller coaster descents, great views, and slab riding. Plus a lake to jump in after isn't the worst thing, even if it is a little busy in the summer.

And that's only the beginning! You can check out all the trails at One Mile Lake on Trail Forks.

Mosquito Lake

The Mosquito Lake area is located next to the Mackenzie Area at the top of Reid Road. Mosquito Lake boasts a large trail network with a massive selection of over 50 trails. Trails range mostly from intermediate to expert and offers types of all-mountain, x-country, and downhill trails for riders to rip up.

Due to the lower elevation, Mosquito Lake's lower elevations allows riders to access trails earlier in the year making for some pretty great spring mountain biking. Advanced mountain bikers should take a ride on Cream Puff. This challenging all-mountain trail comes equip with steep downhill and tricky technical sections that will help get you ready for some of the harder trails around Mosquito Lake.

Another great part about Mosquito Lake is you can go for a quick jump in the lake after a long hard day of riding. Take a look at all the trails Mosquito Lake offers over at Trail Forks.

Pemby Mountain Biking - Forest

Mackenzie Area

East of Pemberton, across the Lillooet River, is the Mackenzie area. Accessible to all biking abilities, the Mackenzie has gone through a lot of work to create such an amazing selection of all-mountain riding for beginners and experts alike.

The Mackenzie area is home to the well-known Bathtub Trail. Bathtub has no elevation gain and trades in downhill ascents for a fun single track in the forest along the Lillooet River. Bathtub is the perfect trail for anybody looking to try out Pemberton's great mountain bike trails for the very first time. Riders who go later in the day will be treated to a spectacular light show as the sun sets through the trees.

But the Mackenzie doesn't just offer trails for beginners, it's also home to 16 black diamond trails and 9 double black diamonds. Check out the video of 'Hawaii Trail' above, it's just one of the single black diamonds in the Mackenzie Area.

Learn more about the trails by visiting Mackenzie Area on Trail Forks.
