A Weekend of Running, Scenery, and Celebration

Every October, Whistler’s crisp autumn air and golden trails set the stage for one of British Columbia’s most anticipated running events, the Whistler 50 Relay & Ultra Marathon.

On October 4, 2025, runners from across the province and beyond will gather at Whistler Olympic Plaza to take part in a day that blends endurance sport with mountain community spirit.

A Race for Every Runner

The Whistler 50 isn’t just for elite athletes. It’s designed to welcome all runners—whether you’re chasing a podium finish or sharing the trail with friends for a memorable day outdoors.

50-Mile (80k) Team Relay

  • Teams of 8 runners each complete a 10k loop.
  • Teams of 4 runners double up with two loops apiece (20k legs).

50k Solo Ultra

  • Five 10k loops along the Lost Lake Park and Whistler Valley Trail system.
  • Considered an approachable “first ultra,” thanks to its loop format and plentiful support points.

All courses start and finish at Whistler Olympic Plaza, where runners hand off between teammates—or mentally gear up for their next loop.

Trails and Village Energy

The Lost Lake trails are the heart of the Whistler 50. Each loop winds through a forested network of paths with glimpses of alpine lakes and mountain views. Between runs, relay teams can enjoy the easy pace of Whistler Village—grabbing a coffee, strolling the shops, or cheering from the beer garden.

Post-Race Celebration

No matter the finish time, every runner and supporter is invited to celebrate at the Finish Line Party:

  • Time: 12 PM – 5 PM
  • Location: Whistler Olympic Plaza Pavilion
  • Highlights: Food and drink for all participants (with tokens included in registration) plus more available for purchase.

At 4 PM, the plaza fills again for the official awards ceremony, where competitors gather to applaud podium finishers and share in the camaraderie that makes this event unique.

The Whistler 50 is more than just a race, it’s a shared experience:

  • Team bonding: From office groups to run clubs, the relay format builds memories that last long after the finish line.
  • Beginner-friendly ultra: With short loops and village support, the 50k course provides a safe, scenic entry into ultrarunning.
  • Community atmosphere: The combination of trails, music, food, and Olympic Plaza festivities gives the event a distinctly Whistler feel.
